Appendix H — Investor / Partner Narrative and High-Level Company Story

This appendix is for telling the higher-level SUMMA story.

It is not a sales call script. It is not a feature list. It is not a hype deck.

It is the narrative for people who need to understand the company at a more strategic altitude: - investors - strategic partners - serious connectors - future senior hires - people who need to understand the shape of the company, not just the shape of one demo

The tone should remain serious.

1. The core company story

SUMMA exists because serious legal file work is still being forced through environments that are too weak for the burden they are supposed to hold.

That is the beginning of the story.

The legal world already has many useful tools. It has document storage. It has case management. It has billing systems. It has eDiscovery. It has chronology tools. It has note systems. It has search. It has increasingly loud AI tools.

But a severe file can still become structurally unlivable.

That is the gap SUMMA is built around.

The company is not trying to make law look futuristic. It is trying to make serious review environments more survivable, more honest, and more structurally sound.

That is the real story.

2. The problem at a higher level

Most legal technology still solves around the file more than inside the file.

It helps store the file. Track the file. Bill around the file. Search the file. Maybe summarize the file.

But when the record becomes disclosure-heavy, contradiction-heavy, mixed-format, and difficult to re-enter, the real burden becomes structural.

The problem becomes: - how to preserve source - how to prevent drift - how to concentrate issues - how to hold posture across time - how to hand off without loss - how to distinguish what is loud from what is dangerous - how to keep serious human judgment from being wasted on reconstruction

That is where SUMMA sits.

So at a company level, SUMMA is not just another legal-tech feature company. It is trying to build the operating environment for high-burden legal review.

That is the higher-order bet.

3. Why this matters now

The world is producing more digital record, not less.

Serious cases now involve: - larger disclosure loads - more supplemental production - more media - more devices - more transcripts - more timeline complexity - more cross-format evidence interaction - more cognitive burden on the reviewer

At the same time, many legal workflows are still patched together through ordinary tools and private effort.

That mismatch is getting worse, not better.

So the company story is not: “AI has arrived.”

The company story is: the burden has outgrown the structure currently surrounding it.

That is why this company can matter.

4. What SUMMA is actually building

SUMMA is building a layered criminal-review system.

At the bottom: - source discipline - record integrity - structured object thinking - stable return paths

In the middle: - issue concentration - workbench movement - continuity - re-entry support - contradiction and timeline handling

At the top: - pressure-aware ranking - strategic pressure support - stronger allocation of serious attention

That layering matters because the product is not being built as one magical AI surface. It is being built as a stacked environment where the higher promises are only allowed to exist because the lower structure is real.

That is one of the company’s deepest quality disciplines.

5. Why the wedge is narrow

SUMMA is not trying to start with every lawyer.

That is deliberate.

The company’s first convincing lane is the criminal file that has crossed from ordinary inconvenience into structural review pain.

That means: - disclosure-heavy - mixed-format - contradiction-prone - painful to re-enter - difficult to hand off - hard to prioritize honestly

That wedge matters because it is where the pain is already real. The company does not need to invent the problem. It only needs to show that it is built for it.

That makes the business story sharper.

6. Why this is more than workflow software

A weak reading of the company would be: this is workflow software for lawyers.

That is too shallow.

The deeper reading is: this is infrastructure for serious legal cognition under record pressure.

That may sound abstract, but it is actually very practical.

When the environment is weak, intelligent people waste time and judgment on: - rebuilding context - rediscovering issues - recovering source - restoring continuity - guessing what changed - re-ranking attention under fatigue

A stronger environment changes what human intelligence gets spent on.

That is not cosmetic workflow improvement. That is a different class of product value.

7. What makes the company credible

The company becomes credible by staying disciplined in at least four ways.

First, it does not pretend the hardest layer is the only layer. It builds upward from structure.

Second, it does not pretend every file needs the same solution. It is honest about the wedge.

Third, it does not pretend to replace legal judgment. It tries to strengthen the environment in which legal judgment happens.

Fourth, it does not rely on fake certainty as a sales tactic. It treats uncertainty as something to preserve honestly even while structure improves.

That discipline is part of the company’s identity.

8. Why Level 9 matters in the company story

Level 9 matters because it shows where the product can become premium.

But it should still be described honestly.

The company is not building “automatic legal strategy.” It is building strategic pressure support: - surfacing what changed posture - distinguishing what is loud from what is dangerous - helping serious counsel allocate attention more intelligently

That is a very strong company story, but only because it is earned from below.

A company that starts with the Level 9 promise and has weak lower layers becomes fake quickly. A company that builds the lower layers first earns the right to speak at the high end.

That is how SUMMA should be understood.

9. Why this can become a moat

The moat is not one feature.

It is the combination of: - narrow wedge discipline - source-linked architecture - issue concentration - workbench survivability - continuity thinking - pressure logic - honest premium layering - language discipline around what the system is and is not

Many products can look useful. Fewer products can become structurally necessary in ugly files. That is where moat begins.

The more the company understands that, the stronger its strategy becomes.

10. How to explain the company simply

If someone needs the simplest serious explanation, it can be this:

SUMMA is building a criminal-review system for the point where legal files become too structurally difficult for ordinary tools to hold together properly.

Or:

SUMMA is building the environment serious counsel need when the real problem is no longer accessing the file, but surviving inside it.

Or:

SUMMA helps severe legal files become more structurally survivable without pretending that hard judgment can be automated away.

Those are strong company lines.

11. What this means for investors and partners

The relevant question is not: is legal tech crowded?

Of course it is.

The better question is: is there still serious unsolved pain inside high-burden legal review even after all the current tools?

SUMMA’s answer is yes.

That is why the company can matter even in a crowded market. It is not entering at the level of generic legal tooling. It is entering at the level of structural failure in severe-file review environments.

For investors, that means the company should be evaluated on: - whether the pain is real - whether the wedge is sharp - whether the structure is defensible - whether the premium ladder is real - whether the product can expand outward from the wedge without losing identity

For partners, it means the company should be understood as a serious infrastructure company for difficult legal review, not as a novelty AI brand.

12. Final takeaway

The highest-level SUMMA story is simple:

serious legal files are getting heavier; the structures surrounding them are still too weak; SUMMA is building a stronger review environment for the threshold where ordinary tools stop being enough.

That is the company story.

And it is strong precisely because it does not need to pretend to be anything else.
